Chizu Anucha is an artist currently based in Glasgow and working with music and its relationship to the moving image. His practice meets at the intersection of music composition, video and site-responsive performance.
His work romanticises everyday practices through poetic and reflexive styles of documentary filmmaking and investigates the historical tensions inherent in the publicness of the black body. He believes in the transformative role of music and performance, and its function in assessing our emotional landscapes. This can lead to experiments in the formation of historical and fictional narratives, often by recontextualising archive film with collages of VHS video.
