I am a theatre facilitator, educator and arts consultant with over seventeen years’ experience of working in the participatory arts sector. I graduated with a Community Arts BA in 2006 and went on to freelance as a drama and movement artist across Scotland. I have managed two arts companies, Community Arts Open Space in West Dunbartonshire from 2009-2013 and the Glasgow Connected Arts Network from 2017-2021. In 2014 I was awarded a MLitt in Theatre Practices from the University of Glasgow. My Masters focused on using drama and ceilidh to work with underrepresented communities. Since moving on from my role as Director of Glasgow CAN in 2021, I have become a Lecturer at Glasgow City College, teaching Devising, Guidance, Acting and Movement on the Acting and Performance HNC course. I also enjoy writing and have recently written a new Panto which will be performed live in December 2021. In one of my freelance roles I wrote historical plays and characters for Riverside Museum which were performed for communities inspired by exhibits.

My practice focuses on theatre and movement primarily with those who face barriers to participation. I have a great deal of experience working with children and young people. I am also a highly experienced project manager and producer, having successfully secured funding for Participatory Arts projects from bodies such as Creative Scotland, the National Lottery, the Robertson Trust and Glasgow City Council. As part of my role as Director of Glasgow CAN I established a new funding programme and therefore have experience of disseminating funding and sitting on funding decision panels. I am also experienced in setting up and supporting others to set up new creative companies, projects or collectives.
A large focus of my work has been with young people aged 14-25 and this continues to be a particular passion of mine. Now more than ever young people require support and guidance with accessing creative activity and building a positive future. I believe that the arts play an integral role in this process and more funding and support should be given to this process. I have experience of establishing youth boards and can support others to do so.

Delivering training and CPD both face-to-face and online is a key service I can offer. I can design a bespoke workshop or programme to suit client needs. Please contact me for further information but some of the topics I can cover are: Finding Funding for Your Project, Working with Young People through the Arts, Writing a Project Plan, Interview and Presentation Skills, Monitoring and Evaluating the Arts, How to Deliver a Quality Participatory Arts Project, Forum Theatre and Committee Development.
As well as lecturing, I am now working freelance as a consultant and facilitator. If you would like me to come in to work with your organisation to deliver a theatre or movement workshop or project, deliver training or support your project through a development process or a funding application process please get in touch.
