Licketyspit – Opening Doors to Imaginary Playworlds to unlock the limitless possibilities of children!
Licketyspit is a specialist early years theatre company and centre of excellence for children’s rights based intergenerational play and engagement. Founded in 2004, the company works nationally from its bases at Community Central Halls, Maryhill, Glasgow, training base at Oakwood Primary in Easterhouse and North Edinburgh Arts, Muirhouse.
Licketyspit’s vision is that child-centred, inclusive theatre and drama-led play becomes an integral part of children’s daily lives. We believe that theatre and drama can empower children, increase their capacity to flourish and support their wellbeing. The company produces theatre, immersive theatre as early intervention (LicketyLeap) and facilitates intergenerational drama-led play with families – Porridge & Play (schools/communities); Picnic & Play (Arts/Cultural/Outdoor spaces); Bookplay (schools/Libraries); Storyplay Schools Residencies for schools addressing the attainment gap and CPD in drama-led play & child engagement for children/family professionals. We stay connected with families and colleagues through our Children & Families & Professional’s Networks.
Licketyspit will be launching two new Porridge & Play Hubs in Castlemilk and Glasgow’s East End in 2022 with funding from the New Scots Integration Fund.
