Richard Risbridger is a multiple disciplinary performer who has recently emigrated to Glasgow from the US. Human rights, economic and environmental justice, LGBTQ+ rights, folk tales, and world mythology are common themes in his work.

Richard worked with Dreamtime Circus as an aerial silks acrobat, partner acrobat, and ringmaster, raising money through shows in the San Francisco Bay area to travel to India and South America to do free shows and workshops for kids. He was also an acrobatic fire dancer with the Copper Lantern Fire Theatre in Oakland.

Onkel Woland and the Black Forest Menagerie is Richard’s longest running project. In this series of stage shows, written and directed by Richard, his character Onkel Woland treats adult audiences to cheeky stories with the accompaniment of live musicians and actors. Onkel Woland was a regular at Oakland/San Francisco’s Hubba Hubba Burlesque Review and Asheville’s Asheville Vaudeville for which Richard also served on the board of directors.

Richard has been involved in three Asheville Fringe Festivals and won awards for two performances blending theatre with dance and aerial silks.

Though continuing to emcee events and do solo storytelling gigs, Richard has spent the majority of his creative energies in the last four years as a secondary school teacher. He is excited to return to the stage and find people to collaborate with in Glasgow.
