Wallace is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and tutor born in West Dunbartonshire. Having learnt his first tune as a tutor-prescribed exercise, Wallace has since found a great curiosity in exploring traditional Scottish, Irish, and other traditional dance music tunes. After ten years of classical cello training, as well as participating in workshops and folk ensembles, he eventually choose to study traditional music at the RCS to culture his lyrical playing style. Wallace specialises in traditional melody-inspired forms of performing and teaching on the cello, while also performing and competing on concertina, harmonica, and mandola.
His current work revolves around accompanying traditional styles of percussive dance, playing for dance classes, and teaching folk cello, while continuing his development and research of traditional performance and repertoire.
