YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) is the award-winning national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland. YDance works through key partnerships in education, culture, health and sport to provide a range of high-quality dance experiences across three main areas of work – Talent Development, Education and Participation.
Our Talent Development projects include:
The National Youth Dance Company of Scotland – the flagship contemporary dance company for exceptional young dancers aged 16 – 21.
Destinations – the national youth dance performance platform for youth dance companies from across Scotland.
Project Y – our 4-week intensive performance course for dancers aged 16 – 25. Hothouse – a free choreographic training programme for ages 14 – 21 run by YDance in partnership with Scottish Ballet and regional partners Dance Base, Scottish Dance Theatre and Citymoves.
Our Education work includes:
Career-Long Professional Learning training days for teachers.
Fun and creative workshops in schools, colleges and universities.
Shake It Up – our 4-year project using dance to teach a range of academic subjects to primary school children .
Our Participation projects include:
Horizons – our inclusive youth dance company for dancers aged 12 – 19 with and without disabilities.
YCreate – weekly creative dance classes for ages 1 – 8.
Me and You – creative and imaginative movement and play sessions to young parents and their children to encourage bonding and attachment.
