Who we are

Glasgow Connected Arts Network is a community interest company registered in Scotland. Our website address is: https://www.glasgowcan.org.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it:

Contact Forms and Information Gathered on Application

Certain parts of our site require you to fill out contact or registration forms in order to be able to access additional services.

Our registration forms request that you give us certain information that personally identifies you.

We will use the information that you provide to fulfil your request, order or enquiry. We may contact you in the future about some other aspect of your work, but only with your express permission, given at the time of application. If it is your wish that we do not, please let us know by ticking the appropriate box, or by contacting us at info@glasgowcan.org.

If you are a member of Glasgow CAN we should already be aware of your mailing preferences.

At Glasgow CAN we take our responsibilities under the Data Protection Act very seriously. As well as a legal requirement, this is an important customer service issue. If at any time you believe we have contacted you inappropriately, please let us know.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Who We Share your Data With

We will not provide any of the personal information you give to us to any third party, except with your prior express consent.

International Transfer of Information

We will retain the personal information you provide within the United Kingdom, and will not transfer it to any other country, except with your prior and express consent.

Analytics Providers

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyse the use of our Service.

  • Google Analytics: Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualise and personalise the ads of its own advertising network. You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity. For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms web page: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Our site contains links to other sites. Glasgow CAN is not responsible for the privacy practices, or the content, of those web sites. If you have followed a link from the Glasgow CAN website to another website you may then be supplying data directly to a third party yourself.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. Website administrators can also see and edit that information. To edit or remove the personal information stored, please contact comms@glasgowcan.org.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
